  Went to the White Horse for the first time with husband for lunch midweek and was very impressed. Lads serving were very attentive, helpful and polite. Pub very cosy and welcoming. Only minus point was the ladies loo seat needed a bit of attention.
  All in all I thought it might make a nice change for the ladies get together that we have regularly in coffee shops in town, now that they're getting busy with Xmas shoppers. So checked with one of the lads that they opened at 11.00 on Saturday and that they wouldn't be so busy that I'd have to reserve a table. Suggested it to the others and they were happy with the idea.
  We all turned up at about 11.05 to find it locked and an elderly man waiting outside. Tried every door I could find and then tapped on the window as I could see a girl behind the bar. She just shook her head at me! Couldn't get any response out of her other than that, so one of the others suggested going to the Ock Mill where we had a good time. So the 2 stars I've given are: 5 stars for the first visit with my husband minus 3 stars for non-welcome on Saturday.

  Best steak for a hundred miles. Never been disappointed with a meal at the white horse. Friendly and attentive staff make it all the better.
